30.11.01 - I read the news today, oh boy...
It was a bit of a shock. I had heard back in the summer that George was doing poorly and wasn't expected to live much longer. This statement was made by George Martin, and it was hotly denied by George Harrison/his spokesperson. Then out of the blue, he's gone. I sat for about 10 minutes Friday morning, after I'd heard, absorbing and reflecting. I lit a candle and set it on the table, then got busy updating the site to pay tribute.

That day was foggy, drizzly, and miserable. All day long, I kept thinking about "Here Comes The Sun'. Around dusk, the sky cleared just in time for a great sunset. I lit another candle. Then, mere minutes later, the orange ball of a rising full moon appeared on the horizon. "There goes the sun, here comes the moon", I thought. On further reflection I realized that, since it was the second full moon of November, it was actually a blue moon rising over the escarpment in Stoney Creek that evening,, at the end of a very emotional day.

The band in heaven just got a lot better.

Well, it's a year later, and what has changed? George's new posthumous release only sold one seventieth of Shania Twain's new release in the same week, in America, and the pundits are making comparisons, as if there is a comparison.
The only consolation I have today is that George is now beyond all of this haggling and B.S. He got to be the first one to join John.
